Thanks for joining me! I hope you find value in this week’s post, whether that be by discovering a MedEd resource you didn’t know existed, finding a way to study more efficiently, or getting a hit of study motivation!

We’re back 🥊 .
It’s Monday. It’s medical educational. This one’s a 10/10 central-crushing-pain severity in study hacking! You won’t be disappointed. And in the MedEd Vault - a fast-growing up-and-coming platform capturing our UK medical school societies by storm. Perhaps it’ll give you some inspo on ways to improve any societies you’re involved in!
Life update
I have now stepped into the world of F2 ✌🏼and into the realms of a new land - GP land to be exact*. Think of it like Amazon Prime’s new Lord of the Rings series, but with more groans of MSK complaints and less funding.
TikTok’s going well! If you saw my entry before the summer break, I had just started a tiktok @dr_mattbarrett. My first video about a lady giving herself an unconventional bladder washout went viral and now a few months down the line, I’ve had another video hit a million views and have grown to 12,000 followers (which is absolutely dwarfed by the 15,000,000 on some tiktok doctors accounts but hey, we’re making moves 🙌🏼).
In a world where we ALL have the potential to generate HUGE leverage through social media and no-code platforms, I’m going to be updating you on how this journey goes in the hope that some of you will follow suit!
*If I need to describe how to take paracetamol at max dose again I’m going to need some N-acetyl cysteine myself.
🙌 Study Hack of the Week: How to Get Your University Books For Free
This one’s haemorrhaging value. Here’s how to get your university books for free AND a Kindle-life hack!
It’s likely some of your mates already know about getting free books (especially if you’re from one of those universities 👀) but here’s your chance to get on a level playing field. With a recommended reading list longer than your saphenous veins tied end-to-end, med students are sure to burn through a significant amount of cash if you wanted to get all textbooks recommended on your courses.
Worry no more by reading on - don’t forget to share it to your mates as well - we’re all in it together!

🔦This week’s resource in the spotlight is: MedAll
🔗Access here: https://medall.org
Dr Phil McElnay et al., bring you MedAll - a novel platform disrupting the way university societies share content. Say goodbye to boring Facebook groups and hello to online libraries of YOUR own society’s content - oh , and it’s free (for now).
Up until recently, society events (including talks, conferences, webinars etc) were lost into the ether - falling upon the ears of those who attended and no further. However, this has changed. MedAll allows societies to host and store all recorded events onto its online platform. Imagine giving your society members access to years worth of high quality talks and events you’ve put on display. Check out their website to get free access.
Pros:
Free to access🙌
Create a profile for your committee that’ll last for years to come
Upload all your event recordings into your own portal
Keep the recordings of your best speakers and events accessible to your society members indefinitely
A new platform that is taking traction - introduce the idea to your society during hustings to help secure society positions.
A beautifully designed website and UX
MedAll also makes events less faffy by generating certificates of attendance for your attendees
Cons:
To my knowledge, member-only areas have not yet been formally released but would be game changing to help incentivise subs from society members
MedAll is led by a passionate founder with ambitious dreams of enhancing medical education without borders. There are no further cons!
Thats all for now - I hope this helps 💪
