#17💰How to create more career options alongside medicine
🙌Study Medicine Smarter and Create More Career Options.
🔗 www.matt-barrett.com | 🧠Study Medicine Smarter and Unlock More Career Options
👋Hey, I’m Matt Barrett. You're receiving this email because you signed up to 🧠MedEd Mondays, a weekly newsletter to help medical students and doctors to study medicine smarter, unlock more time and create MORE options alongside (or instead of) medicine.
If you like this, then share with your friends; if you were forwarded this, then be sure to never miss a release by subscribing here!
Call off the search party. It’s alright. I’m back… and I have something you’ll want to hear.
Look I have a confession - Ive been deliberately ghosting this newsletter - but theres a very good reason for it and I’m going to make it worth your while!
Turns out, I’ve been in plain sight all along. My efforts had shifted to TikTok (*cough* @dr_mattbarrett). The OG readers will know I started a TikTok a few months ago. Fast forward a few exciting months and I’ve hit several videos with >1 million views and a following of >35,000 people. Mad considering social media was really not my thing 6 months ago.
We’re all aware of how limited our time is (even more so on the other side of med school). Its more logical to spend the majority on those areas that will generate more leverage* - I encourage you to do the same.
*N.B. leverage means gaining MORE from the time/money/resource spent on it. Its the secret to studying smarter not harder and making more career options alongside medicine!
🚀‘More Than Medicine’ 60-Day Accelerator
Big news! Whilst Ive been ghosting this newsletter, Ive been crafting something very special.
Incase you didnt know, practising medicine in the UK is pretty bleak right now. Doctors are striking soon, burnout is everywhere and we’re losing so many doctors abroad or to industry (The ol’ F1, F2, F-off).
The way to become future-proof is to have options. Whether that be in side-hustles, MedTech, content creation, skills in digital marketing - anything that tickles your mesocorticolimbic pathways.
So Ive developed a programme (The ‘More Than Medicine’ 60-day Accelerator) to help you study smarter, smash medical school (academically and portfolio-ly), and invest that new time in the skills that will give you more options alongside medicine!
Remember, I was the first in my family to go to uni and was rejected the first time. But by studying smarter and focusing my efforts, I am now…
✅ A doctor
✅ Owner of a medical simulation startup in the VR space (ARCTERA)
✅ Founder/Scaler of a non-profit organisation (BOMSA)
✅ Author of 20 papers at medical school
✅ Past president of 2x societies at the same time at med school
✅ A growing content creator
✅All while consistently ranking top of the year for 6 years over my undergrad (Biomedical sciences) and medicine.
I want to help you create leverage. I released 5 slots on my Insta and Im pretty shook at how much interest it’s gotten. So much, that I’ve got calls arranged with students from around the country all week.
But heres the good news - I have reserved a few more spots for you guys. My MedEd Mondays followers, as a thank you for following since the start.
So let me ask you this, do you want to do MORE than medicine? Do you want to work closely with me to study smarter, unlock more bandwidth and focus your efforts on the stuff that actually matters? If so, then I encourage you to apply. Head on over to my instagram @medicine_study_hacks and drop me a DM with the words ‘YES’. Be MORE. Do MORE and create a career that works for you.
🤫P.S. Let me know you’re a MedEd Mondays follower and I’ll make it even more worth your while.
