Hi guys,
Happy MedEd Monday! We’re 7 weeks in and this week we’re talking tomatoes - why, you ask? For productivity purposes of course. A lot of people know about the Pomodoro technique - if you don’t, I’ve got you covered, but if you have, then you may be using it wrong! We’ll go into that too.
Staying on the theme of data interpretation resources like the last couple of week, I’ve got another hidden gem for you. Does fast paced ABG interpretation wrack your brains? Not anymore

🔦This week’s resource in the spotlight is: ABG Ninja!
🔗Access here: https://abg.ninja/#!
ABG interpretation is a favourite for medical school exams. Created by Andy Weinberger, ABG Ninja will help you to get faster and faster at interpreting ABGs.
This resource will have you flying through ABG-related questions so you have more time to focus on others in your written and/or practical exams.
Pros:
Incredibly easy to use tool for practicing ABG interpretation
The website also covers ECG interpretation and invasive haemodynamics quizzes*
The website also gives you practice in committing GCS and APGAR scores to memory.
Cons:
Theres a lot more to pick up from an ABG than just gas exchange. This resource won’t be testing you when it comes to other important parameter of ABG interpretation like lactate, Hb and electrolyte levels.
Although this resource will help you to identify abnormalities faster, it lacks enough detail in the questioning to train clinical decision-making. For that you’d need more of a story so that you can consider patient management Hollis to calmly.
*Invasive haemodynamics is a diagnostic tool using invasive instruments like arterial and central venous lines to differentiate shock states and cardiac function. Luckily this stuff isn’t usually tested at medical school.
👋Thats all for this week! See you on the other side of my weekend on-call!
